Vapours may cause eye irritation. Effects from Skin Contact Allergic Skin Reaction: Signs/symptoms can include redness, swelling, blistering and itching. Moderate skin irritation: Signs/symptoms can include redness, swelling, itching and dryness. Effects from Inhalation Upper Respiratory Tract Irritation: Signs/symptoms may include cough, sneezing, nasal discharge, headache, hoarseness, and nose and throat pain. Effects from Ingestion Irritation to the gastrointestinal tract. Signs/symptoms can include pain, vomiting, abdominal tenderness, nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting. Aspiration Pneumonitis: signs/symptoms can include coughing, difficulty breathing, wheezing, coughing up blood and pneumonia, which can be fatal. Carcinogenicity WARNING: Contains a chemical (75-56-9) which can cause cancer. (NTP anticipated human carcinogen, IARC possible human carcinogen, NOHSC Carcinogen Category 2). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5 FIRST AID ------------------------------------------------------------------------ EYE CONTACT In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. SKIN CONTACT Immediately wash skin with soap and plenty of warm water. Remove contaminated clothing. If irritation occurs, contact a doctor. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse and dispose of contaminated shoes. INHALATION Remove person to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, get immediate medical attention. Only induce vomiting at the instruction of a doctor. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA Water spray. Carbon dioxide. Dry chemical. Foam. FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES Wear full protective clothing, including helmet, self-contained, positive pressure or positive pressure demand self-contained breathing apparatus, tunic and pants, bands around arms, waist and legs, full facepiece, and protective covering for exposed areas of the head. Water may not effectively extinguish fire; however, it should be used to keep fire-exposed containers and surfaces cool and prevent explosive rupture. UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS Closed containers exposed to heat from fire may build pressure and explode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES (SPILL) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Personal Precautions Observe precautions from other sections of this Material Safety Data Sheet. Spill Response Ventilate area with fresh air. Contain spill. Working from around the edges of the spill inward, cover with commercially available inorganic absorbent material until it appears dry. Collect as much of the spilled material as possible. Clean up residue with an appropriate organic solvent. Read and follow safety precautions on the solvent label and MSDS. Place in an approved metal container. Seal the container. For information on the 3M range of Sorbent materials, call 3M OH&ES on Freecall 1800 024-464. Methods for Disposal As a disposal alternative, incinerate in an industrial or commercial facility in the presence of a combustible material. Dispose of completely cured (or polymerised) material in a sanitary landfill. Keep container dry. Incompatibility - Materials to Avoid Store away from acids. Store out of direct sunlight. Recommended Ventilation Keep container in well-ventilated area. Use Instructions Contents may be under pressure, open carefully. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PROTECTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special Information, Exposure/Protection The extent to which the following recommendations for exposure control and protection are observed should depend on the risk assessment undertaken for the specific conditions under which this product is used, including occupational hygiene measurements. Eye Protection Avoid eye contact. During operations in which exposure is likely: During operations in which eye exposure is likely, the following should be worn alone, or in combination, as appropriate: Unvented goggles. Full-face shield. Eye protection should comply with AS/NZS1337. When applying large quantities during high temperatures with little or no air movement, it is recommended that a full facepiece respirator be worn to prevent eye irritation. Hand Protection During operations in which hand exposure is likely, wear elbow length gloves. Gloves made from one of the following material(s) are recommended: Polyethylene/ethylene vinyl alcohol. Skin Protection Avoid skin contact. Use one or more of the following personal protection items as necessary to prevent skin contact: Apron. full length overalls or long sleeved shirt and pants. For footwear, knee length rubber boots should be worn. TOP OF NEW PAGE 3M BRAND CONCRETE PROTECTOR & RESTORER 5742LO PART A Page 6 of 9. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Respiratory Protection During operations in which inhalation exposure is likely, respiratory protection should be used. Select and use respirators in accordance with AS/NZS1715. When required, use one of the following: Half-facepiece organic vapour respirator or Full-face organic vapour respirator as appropriate. A full facepiece respirator (e.g. 6000 Series Full Facemasks with A1 organic filters) where large quantities are applied and ventilation is not sufficient to remove irritating vapours. For information about respirators, call 3M on 1800 024464. Prevention of Accidental Ingestion Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash exposed areas thoroughly with soap and water. Recommended Ventilation Conduct air monitoring to determine adequacy of ventilation. Use in a well-ventilated area. If exhaust ventilation is not adequate, use appropriate respiratory protection. Provide local exhaust or dilution ventilation to control vapours during product use. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10 EXPOSURE STANDARDS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ METHACRYLIC ACID (79-41-4) NOHSC EXPOSURE STANDARDS: TWA 20ppm PROPYLENE OXIDE (75-56-9) NOHSC EXPOSURE STANDARDS: TWA 20ppm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 11 STABILITY AND REACTIVITY ------------------------------------------------------------------------ STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Unstable.
